ARRIVAL - HOW TO COME TO HVAR?

BY AIR:

Book a flight to Split. Then take the direct airport-bus or a taxi/cab which brings you to the harbour of Split. Driving time is approx. 45 min.

The bus station in Split is only few meters away from the ticket booth and embarkation quay for the catamarans and ferries to Hvar. With a catamaran you are going directly to Hvar town within 60 min.

The other connections are ferries from Split to Stari Grad (ferry port of the island Hvar). Travelling time is 2 hours. From the ferry port in Stari Grad you can take a bus or a taxi/cab to Hvar, the journey lasts 25 min. Please ask the taxi driver what he is asking for the transport.

The schedules for the catamarans and ferries can be found on:

http://www.jadrolinija.hr          and           http://www.krilo.hr/en/sailing_schedule.html

In any case purchase tickets for the catamarans immediately when arriving in Split or a day before if possible. There is also a possibility to book at the internet. The catamarans are in the high season often sold out. Places on the ferries for passengers are always available, for cars it is very seldom sold out.

WITH CAR:

Take the new highway/autocesta A1 “Dalmatina” from Zagreb to the exit of Split. Then follow the signs for “trajektna luka”/ ferry port, which brings you directly in the harbour where you have to take the ferry to Stari-Grad ( it is ferry port on the island Hvar). Driving time from highway-exit Split to the ferry 30-45 min, because of heavy traffic in the town of Split!

From Stari Grad follow the signs for town Hvar ( 15 kilometers ).
